Resumo

In recent years,a number of Chuandianella ovata(an arthropod)specimens have been excavated from the Yu'anshan Formation of the Lower Cambrian(the strata Chengjiang biota being excavated)in Haikou area near Kunming City. These specimens were perfectly preserved with their soft-tissues of abdomen, cephalothorax, and their carapace features. They can provide us with more biological information than those in the previously described specimens.Based on a systematic investigation, the growth stages are revealed by fossil statistics. The characters of male and female specimens are recorded separately. The different preservations of these specimens have been observed.Furthermore, the Early Cambrian Chuandianella ovata is here believed to be different from the Middle Cambrian Waptia fieldenses, and they should not be assigned to the same genus.
