ResumoIn addition to the Pygodus anserinus conodont fauna referred to the Atlantic Province, which was formerly found in the Upper Ordovician Pingliang Formation of Pingliang, Gansu, the Belodina compressa, Erismodus quaridactylus, and Plectodina aculeata faunas referred to the American Midcontinent Province were found in the same formation at the same section. The Belodina compressa, Erismodus quadridactylus, Plectodina aculeata, and Pygodus anserinus zones in descending order can be recognized in this section. the Upper three zones can be correlated with the American Midcontinent zones, while the Pygodus anserinus Zone can be correlated with the same zone of the North Atlantic conodont zones. Alternation of the two faunas, the North Atlantic Fauna and North American Midcontinent Fauna do not mean the changes of the conodont fauna provinces. It is caused by the changes of the environments, especialy the changes of the see level. The discovery of the North American conodont zones is important not only for the correlation of conodont zones, but also for the paleogeography and palaeobiogeography.
