With ISO9842:2003 rose essential oil standard, the essential oil of Kazanluk, which,a dominant rose variety in Bulgaria, was introduced into Shangzhou Prefecture,Shaanxi,China, was assayed. The results indicated that the essential oil was fragrant, exquisite, mild and elegant as natural rose flowers smell. The oil was liquid and yellowish with its relative density (20/20℃),refraction coefficient(20℃),optical rotation, freezing point and ester value at 0.859 9,1.459 2,-4.3°,20.6℃ and 11.9,respectively,and these physical parameters could meet with the criteria of the standard. Its major components were ethanol, citronellol, nerol, geraniophenylethyl alcohol,C_(17) alkane,C_(19) alkane, and C_(21) alkane whose relative contents were 0.5%,45.5%,4.5%,7.6%,1,2.9%,1.13%,15.5%,5.0%.Therefore,the contents of its major components differ from those in Bulgaria to some extent but meets with the standard of comparable rose oils produced in Morocco and thus can be sold on the international market as a product.
