ResumoThe effect of vacuum infiltration treatment with Harpin on Alternaria rot of Pyrus bretschneideri'Pingguo' inoculated with Alternaria alternata and some resistance mechanism were studied. The results showed that Harpin treatment at the concentration levels of 50,100 and 150 mg/L significantly inhabited the disease incidence. The concentration at 50 mg/L showed the best inhibi-tion,and the same treatment also reduced the lesion area. The treatment at 50 mg/L increased the activities of peroxidase(POD),chitinase(CHT) and phenylalanine ammonia-lyase(PAL),and total phenolic content in the fruits challenged with A.alternata.It suggested that the effective inhibition of Harpin treatment on Alternaria rot in the pear cultivar was associated with the induction of the three enzyme activities and the enhancement of the total phenolic content in the fruits.
