A REVISION OF THE GENUS NEOCARIDINA(CRUSTACEA: DECAPODA: ATYIDAE)

ResumoThe genus Neocaridina was created by Kubo (1938) based on the type species Caridinadenticulata De Haan, 1849 separated from the genus Caridina. They are truthful freshwater species and abundant in various kinds of inland water bodies such as lakes, reservoirs,ponds, rivers and mountain streams, distributing in China, Japan, Korean and Vietnam.Additionly, they are economic species, many species are used of food and animal feed. So arevision of this genus is necessary.Neocardina is confirmed based on four important characters such as morphology, lifehistory, ecology and geographical distribution which are discussed and compared with Candina in this paper.The diagnosis of the gneus are emended and the systematic position of the genus is discussed. So far there are 19 species in this genus. 2 new species, 4 new subspecies, 7 newcombinations are proposed.All the type specimens are kept in the institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica.
