Jiao Xun's Study of the Prosthaphaeresis Rules of Spherical Trigonometry

ResumoThis paper discussed the studies of Chinese mathematicians Mei Wending,Dai Zhen and Jiao Xun about the Prosthaphaeresis Rules of Spherical Trigonometry,so-called the method of sum-arc and difference-arc,especially Jiao Xun's research.Based on the foundational work of Mei Wending and Dai Zhen,Jiao Xun obtained his results by combining geometrical figure and algebraic method,and avoided the sign problem of Trigonometrical functions which Mei Wending and Dai Zhen unable to solve subtly.
