ResumoMelanocortin receptor-4(MC4R) is one of members of the family of melanocortin receptors(MC1-5R) and belongs to the family of seven transmembrane G protein coupled receptors. It can cooperate with leptin, neuropeptide Y and melanocyte-stimulating hormone to regulate body weight and feeding.A pair of primers which were designed according to the sequence of chicken MC4R gene were used to amplify the goose MC4R gene. The results showed that sequence of goose MC4R gene was 996 bp,and homologous comparison showed 95.3% and 98.5% homology at the nucleotide and amino acid levels with chicken respectively, and 75% to 79% with mammal(human, cattle and pig, etc) in nucleotide sequence. The hylogenetic tree among mammalian, birds and fish showed goose earlier differentiated from mammals. The hydrophilicity, averagy charge and surface probability of amino acid residues varied with MC4R seven transmembrane process.
