ResumoReleasing Orius sauteri adults for controlling thrips on eggplant within greenhouse was investigated in Zhumadian and Luoyang,Henan Province, from 2008 to 2009.The results showed the densities of the orious were 0.70 and 0.52 per plant after 14 days of released 2 orius adults per m2,and revealed they colonized successfully. The treatment of 2 orius adults per m2 of released area could control thrips in seedling stage, and the efficiency was 94.46%,in the peak of occurrence of thrips. However, the efficiencies were only 66.62% for thrips if the orius released in the flowering stage. The orious released in early developmental stage or seedling was a key way for controlling thrips on eggplant within green house.
