Objective To study the distribution and molecular characteristics of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in patients with acute diarrhea in Zhejiang, providing a scientific basis for further molecular epidemiology study of V.parahaemolyticus.Methods Pathogenic bacteria were isolated from patients with acute diarrhea. The drug susceptibility of V.parahaemolyticus strains were detected with K-B method.Molecular characteristics were detected by using multi-locus sequence typing(MLST).Results A total of 552 pathogenic bacteria were isolated from 1 812 cases.V.parahaemolyticus was found in 150 cases(8.3%,150/1 812) and ranked as the second of predominant pathogenic bacteria.V.parahaemolyticus infections was prevalent mainly in July to September, and occurred commonly in young adults of 18-45 years old.V.parahaemolyticus strains revealed 100% sensitivity to imipenem and meropenem, but the resistance rates of the strains to ampicillin and cefazolin reached 81.3% and 63.4%,respectively.MLST typing of 50 V.parahaemolyticus strains showed that 47 strains were ST-3,two strains were ST-8 and one strain was ST-120.Conclusion V.parahaemolyticus is an important pathogen associated with diarrhea in summer and autumn in Zhejiang area, with ST-3 the most prevalent type.Long-term monitoring has great significance in the prevention and control of the V.Parahaemolyticus spreading among the environment and the humans.
