Resumo

A new species,Paecilomyces gunnii Liang sp.nov.was isolated from mature ascosporos, stroma and endosclerotia of Cordyceps gunnii(Berk.)Berk.Colonies on Czapek's agar growing slowly, attaining a diameter of 25—28 mm within 14 days at 25℃,consisting of a flat margin and a convex centre,at first white, later becom- ing gray, reverse brown;vegetative hyphae hyaline,1.5—2.5μm in wideth, submerged hyphae 2—4μm wide, sometimes more or less in moniliform,6×5μm;conidiophores mainly arising from the aerial hyphae, short, about 60μm long;phialides 7—12(—19) ×2—3(—)μm,consisting of a swollen basal portion, tapering into a long cylindrical neck, sometimes slightly bending away from the main axis, some phialides proliferous forming 1—2 lateral necks;conidia ellipsoidal oval or fusiform,(1.6—)2.6—4.0(—4.8) ×(1.2—)1.6—2.5(—3.5)μm,spinulose,in divergent chains;chlamydospores ellipsoidal or subglobose,5.5—7.2×3.2—5.5μm. An optimal temperature of the new species is ca.26℃,maximun at 32℃. The type specimen,Cordyceps gunnii(Berk.)Berk.CGAC 2903 as well as living culture CFAC 29031(type)have been deposited in the Department of Plant Protection, Guizhou Agricultural College,Guiyang,China.
