ResumoThe effect of particle ration of charging stock for production of ferromanganese-silicon alloy on its properties of resistance and permeability was studied in this work. The experimental results showed that the resistance of two nonuniform granularity mixed cokes varied non-linearly with the size increasing and reached to a larger value, when the volumetric fraction of small particle size of coke was 50%~60%.The resistance of charging stock decreased and the permeability varied non-linearly with increasing of the size of charging stock. But the permeability decreased with the particle size increasing in general.Application of the results to practical system of 6.3 MW submerged arc furnace showed that when changing the volume ration of big particle coke and small particle coke from 3:2 to 5:6 and the particle size of manganese ore from 80 to 40 mm or so,the resistance increased, and at the same time the permeability was much improved.
