It can be though emphasized the emergence of new elinies of Geriatrics, the treatment provided them being associated with natural factors for cure, and competing the internationally known Pell - Amar, Boicil, Covalitin, etc.Due to the increased longevity, but also to the increased morbidity as well as of body fitness needs, this form of tourism - spa tourism - will be on considerably developed, not only based on natural resources of the resort but for prophylactic and therapeutic treatments.Although several measures are needed for all the spa-resorts. One of them is the creation of material base necessary for treatments (outdoor activities, planning of surface water, beaches for practicing contrast procedures with in the hot season - as heliotherapy and heat factors would oppose cold baths, of hyperthermic dry or wet baths), the balneoclimatic modernization, capture, distribution, transmission of natural therapeutic recovery factors, the diversification of some spa factors, the development and modernization of balneotouristic offer, their development to European standards, etc.The Valcea Carpathians include several spa rich both in mineral waters, mud and sludge. The 6 existing resorts show the beauty that nature has endowed them with but also the negligence of the locals. If a resort like Baile 01ane§ti, Calimane§ti Caciulata, Baile Govora and even Ocnele Mari attract a considerable number of tourists at the opposite pole there are situated Salatrucu and Costestiul, towns which once owned mineral waters and specific arrangements (designed by specialists for the spa balneology). Today, they are abandoned, not being subject to a new process for changing and reuptaking. The same is true regarding the accommodation, no mineral water installation being restored, thus there are only few tourists. Those coming in the area have a totally different reason than the treatment. Because of that the accommodation base development did not received any incentives.Generally speaking, we can see some specific characteristics of the Valcea Sub Carpathians, as following: a decrease in altitude hills both from north to south, and from east to west (1000-1200, east of Olt, maximum 400-500 m west of Olt), accidental appearance of salt (Ocnele Mari-Ocnita) and Mascara diapire structures; the presence of thermal mineral (Calimane§ti-Caciulata - to Poiana Bivolari) the enforcement of human settlements in the depressions, remarkable tourism resources, materialized through balneoclimatic resorts (Calimanesti-Caciulata, Baile Olanesti, Baile Govora), the presence of some natural parks (Buila Vânturari|a Mountain), of historic and architectural monuments, of ethnographic and folkloric areas etc. …
