Resumo

Based on the describing of the hydrodynamic structure and sand bar development trend of the Modaomen estuary, of the earl River, we analyzed its recent evolution , and linked its environmental effects with flood drainage imperilment to deduct the estuarine interfacial function and behavior of flood drainage. The results show that: ( 1 ) the dynamical interface of Modaomen estuary is transiting from the river-dominated dynamic to the combined control of river dynamic and wave dynamic, and the wave dynamic becomes an important factor that reconstructs and modifies the entrance bar; ( 2 ) the changes of dynamics and geomorphology in the Modaomen estuary strengthened the defense capability while weakening the permeability of estuarine interface for the freshwater. Thus , the potential of flood drainage of Modaomen estuary is limited; ( 3 ) The developing branch is a natural law in the river-dominated estuarys extension to the ocean, and the branch is in favor of flood drainage for the estuary. So it should be fully considered to protect the branch during the exploitation in future.
