To date this modification of the Mainz pouch technique has been performed successfully in 13 patients. The appendicocutaneous stoma was placed at the lower right abdominal quadrant in 12 patients and into the umbilical funnel in 1. Urodynamic investigations of the submucosally embedded appendix showed a maximum closure pressure of more than 80cm. water in pressure profiles. Only 1 case of stomal stenosis required reoperation. © 1990 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited ByBochner B, Karanikolas N, Barakat R, Wong D and Chi D (2018) Ureteroileocecal Appendicostomy Based Urinary Reservoir in Irradiated and Nonirradiated PatientsJournal of Urology, VOL. 182, NO. 5, (2376-2381), Online publication date: 1-Nov-2009.Kälble T and Roth S (2018) Serosa Lined and Tapered Ileum as Primary and Secondary Continence Mechanism for Various Catheterizable PouchesJournal of Urology, VOL. 180, NO. 5, (2053-2057), Online publication date: 1-Nov-2008.Abdallah M, Bissada N, Hamouda H and Bissada A (2018) Long-Term Multi-Institutional Evaluation of Charleston Pouch I Continent Cutaneous Urinary DiversionJournal of Urology, VOL. 177, NO. 6, (2217-2220), Online publication date: 1-Jun-2007.Wiesner C, Stein R, Pahernik S, Hähn K, Melchior S and Thüroff J (2018) Long-Term Followup of the Intussuscepted Ileal Nipple and the In Situ, Submucosally Embedded Appendix as Continence Mechanisms of Continent Urinary Diversion With the Cutaneous Ileocecal Pouch (Mainz Pouch I)Journal of Urology, VOL. 176, NO. 1, (155-160), Online publication date: 1-Jul-2006.WALDNER M, HERTLE L and ROTH S (2018) REVISION OF NONFUNCTIONING KOCK POUCH EFFERENT LIMB: CONTINENT, TISSUE PRESERVING TECHNIQUEJournal of Urology, VOL. 163, NO. 6, (1810-1813), Online publication date: 1-Jun-2000.LAMPEL A, THÜROFF J and ROTH S (2018) MODIFIED SEROMUSCULAR TUBE: SEROSA LINED BOWEL WALL IMBRICATION AS A CONTINENT OUTLET FOR CONTINENT CUTANEOUS URINARY DIVERSIONJournal of Urology, VOL. 163, NO. 1, (201-204), Online publication date: 1-Jan-2000.
