ResumoThe increase in the concentration of conservative substances in the Great Lakes is described by a simple time variable equation. The concentration of chlorides is related to the fresh water flow, the volumes of the lakes and the various sources—municipal, industrial, natural background and road de-icing. The increase in concentration since 1900 is presented and projections are made of anticipated concentrations based on various assumptions of control.
