Bowel perforation has been known to cause this disease but, to our knowledge, perforation in an inguinal hernia due to benign or malignant disease has not been reported elsewhere. Gastrointestinal tract perforation should be sought as a potential etiology in patients with necrotizing fasciitis of the genitalia. When such a perforation exists occult malignancy should be ruled out. © 1992 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited byPizzorno R, Bonini F, Donelli A, Stubinski R, Medica M and Carmignani G (2018) Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in the Treatment of Fournier's Disease in 11 Male PatientsJournal of Urology, VOL. 158, NO. 3, (837-840), Online publication date: 1-Sep-1997.
