We reviewed the case records of 71 women who were operated upon for stress incontinence at our medical center from 1975 to 1980. Of these women 30 underwent the Pereyra-Stamey endoscopically controlled suspension of the bladder neck and 41 underwent the Marshall-Marchetti-Krantz repair. We compared the major components of care contributing to the cost of each surgical procedure. At current 1980 prices a significant saving of 4 days in hospital stay and of $2,500 in total medical costs can be effected by choosing the Pereyra-Stamey technique over the Marshall-Marchetti-Krantz procedure. No important differences were noted in complications, operating room time or surgeon’s fees. © 1982 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited ByConrad S, Pieper A, de la Maza S, Busch R and Huland H (2018) Long-Term Results of the Stamey Bladder Neck Suspension Procedure: A Patient Questionnaire Based Outcome AnalysisJournal of Urology, VOL. 157, NO. 5, (1672-1677), Online publication date: 1-May-1997.Loughlin K, Whitmore W, Gittes R and Richie J (2018) Review of an 8-Year Experience with Modifications of Endoscopic Suspension of the Bladder Neck for Female Stress Urinary IncontinenceJournal of Urology, VOL. 143, NO. 1, (44-45), Online publication date: 1-Jan-1990.Spencer J, O’Conor V and Schaeffer A (2018) A Comparison of Endoscopic Suspension of the Vesical Neck With Suprapubic Vesicourethropexy for Treatment of stress Urinary IncontinenceJournal of Urology, VOL. 137, NO. 3, (411-415), Online publication date: 1-Mar-1987.Loughlin K, Gittes R, Whitmore W and Klein L (2018) Re: Management of Recurrent Urinary Stress Incontinence by the Marshall-Marchetti-Krantz Vesicourethropexy, by J.
