ResumoMR imaging is used in the spleen primarily to supplement CT scan studies. Because of its multiplanar capabilities and potential characterization of lesions on the basis of signal features, however, MR can provide important diagnostic information. This article reviews appropriate imaging techniques and the MR appearance of congenital anomalies, trauma, inflammatory and vascular disease, and neoplasms.
