ResumoTwo female patients underwent combined surgery of cataract and epiretinal membrane by facoemulsification and posterior vitrectomy. After surgery they developed mottled hypo and hyperpigmented retinal alterations diagnosed as Xenon light induced phototoxicity lesions.Factors associated with the appearance of this lesions are: light power, exposure time, wavelength and endoilluminator-retina distance. In spite of the foveal protective effect, we must act over these factors to avoid the development of retinal alterations.
