ResumoGastrinomas secrete gastrin and cause symptoms related to gastric acid hypersecretion that can be controlled by antisecretory medications. Primary tumors are located within the pancreas or duodenum and 60% metastasize. Liver metastases are associated with decreased survival. Localization studies especially somatostatin receptor scintigraphy are indicated to image the extent of disease. Surgery is indicated to potentially cure the patient, or control the malignant tumoral process and prolong survival.
