Resumo

The Alcian blue binding properties of gastric juice were studied by a precipitation method at pH 5.8 in normal subjects and in patients with gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, and gastric carcinoma. The peptic ulcer group were characterized by an excess alcian blue binding capacity of the gastric juice. This abnormality was most marked in the cases of duodenal ulcer patients.
