ResumoIn a study of 88 episodes of gangrene of the bowel, mortality from gangrene due to mesenteric vascular accidents was three times that of gangrene from strangulation obstructions. Shock, high fever, tachycardia, and hypotension were also associated with higher mortality rates, as was a short length of bowel remaining after operation.
