ResumoLaparoscopic surgery is rapidly evolving to encompass most traditional abdominal operations. Many mechanical devices are being developed to facilitate laparoscopic tissue approximation. It is imperative for the surgeon, however, to learn, practice, and master laparoscopic techniques for suturing and knot tying. The principles and basics of these techniques are described and illustrated. It is only by applying these classic skills for tissue approximation that the laparoscopic surgeon will be able to ensure maximal adaptability and clinical safety during operative procedures.
