Massive hemospermia causing hematuria, with clot formation and occasional urinary retention, occurs in a subset of patients. Three patients are reported in whom cystourethroscopy demonstrated nonvaricose abnormal posterior urethral vessels. Treatment consisted of fulguration of the vessels. One patient was cured, 1 had no symptoms for 3 years and 1 improved slightly. Endoscopically, this is a safe simple outpatient surgical procedure that is recommended for massive hemospermia due to abnormal posterior urethral vessels. © 1982 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited ByAhmad I and Krishna N (2018) HemospermiaJournal of Urology, VOL. 177, NO. 5, (1613-1618), Online publication date: 1-May-2007.HAN M, BRANNIGAN R, ANTENOR J, ROEHL K and CATALONA W (2018) ASSOCIATION OF HEMOSPERMIA WITH PROSTATE CANCERJournal of Urology, VOL. 172, NO. 6 Part 1, (2189-2192), Online publication date: 1-Dec-2004.Cho I, Lee M, Rha K, Hong S, Park S and Kim M (2018) Magnetic Resonance Imaging in HemospermiaJournal of Urology, VOL. 157, NO. 1, (258-262), Online publication date: 1-Jan-1997.Neustein P, Hein P and Goergen T (2018) Chronic Hemospermia Due to Müllerian Duct Cyst: Diagnosis by Magnetic Resonance ImagingJournal of Urology, VOL. 142, NO. 3, (828-828), Online publication date: 1-Sep-1989.Related articlesJournal of UrologyNov 12, 2018, 4:45:54 AM99mTechnetium Dimercaptosuccinic Acid: Clinical and Renographic Correlation, by Michael J.
