ResumoDuring the period from 1935 to 1965, pharmacology and drug research have made greater progress than in all the time that drug actions have been studied scientifically, and today we are inclined to speak of those 30 years as of the golden age of drug development. 9 All of us who have at least in part experienced this era remember it as a most exciting and rewarding succession of years, characterized not only by an apparently continuous flow of new inventions, but also by their rapid realization, unrestrained by complex regulations that today not infrequently are prohibitive to the development of new drugs.
