ResumoPreacher and Congressman Guaracy Silveira's experience in the federal constitutional assemblies of 1933/1934 and 1946 was fundamental in order to qualify his contribution to Methodism in Brazil. The struggles he faced there favored the deepening of his convictions regarding the central role of democracy, which he considered the dearest daughter of Christianity. Such convictions have guided his new view on the Church's role in society and influenced his complex relationship with Church authorities.
