Resumo

Active cutaneous anaphylaxis after intramuscular sensitization against BPO-BGG in complete Freund’s adjuvant was clearly demonstrated. Wheals developed within 30 min and subsided within 24 to 48 h. The reactions were interpreted as a mixed type response (type I and III). Similar reactions were produced in passive cutaneous anaphylaxis experiments (Prausuitz-Kuestuer technique). By using prolonged intervals between antigen and antibody injection, it was possible to differentiate immediate from half-delayed reactions.
