Resumo

A case of an acquired scleroderma-like aperistalsis of the esophagus caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease and reversed by correction of the reflux and healing of the esophagitis is presented. This abnormality appears to be a more extreme example of an increasingly reported complication of gastroesophageal reflux, reversible esophageal motility changes.
