ResumoTwenty two butterfly species are now known to occur on Christmas Island. This paper lists seven species previously unrecorded, viz. 'Papilio demoleus malayanus' Wallace, 'Eurema blanda' (Boisduval), 'Nacaduba kurava' (Moore), 'Jamides bochus' (Stoll), 'Catochrysops panormus' (Felder), 'Lampides boeticus' (L.) and 'Zizina otis' (F.). In addition a second form of 'Catopsilia pomona' (F.) is recorded for the first time. Only two species 'Eurema amplexa' (Butler) stat rev. and 'Polyura andrewsi' (Butler) are endemic. The male genitalia of 'Eurema amplexa' shows that it should not be considered a subspecies of 'E. hecabe' (L.) but deserves specific status.
