ResumoTo be understandable this demanding but crucial work by Marx requires discussion of its context. The "Critique" was a response to a unification program of the two major workers organizations in Germany in 1875 in the city of Gotha. The older and dominant group was the General Association of German Workers, formed by Ferdinand Lassalle in 1863. The more recent workers organization was the Social-Democratic Workers Party, forged by Wilhelm Liebknecht and August Bebel in 1869 in the city of Eisenach, which Marx and Engels often simply called "the Eisenachers." The latter group was much closer to the "Marx tendency" and the "Critique" was written to circulate Marx's severe reservations to the leadership of the Eisenachers.KeywordsCapitalist SocietyGerman WorkerWage SystemCommunist SocietyFeudal LordThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
