ResumoA survey of 281 Aborigines attending the infants' and primary school at Walgett, N.S.W., has shown a significant incidence of malnutrition as evidenced by body growth retardation and small brain size. IQ testing done on a group of malnourished subjects, as well as a control group matched for age, sex and social status, has shown that the results in the malnourished group were significantly lower than in the control group which supports the hypothesis that malnutrition in the Walgett Aborigines has caused a specific defect in intellectual development.
