Resumo

The thyroid and parathyroid glands are the sites of clinically important hyperplasias, benign tumors, and malignant neoplasms. Careful gross and microscopic examination provides important diagnostic and prognostic information. New techniques, including immunocytochemistry, cytomorphometry, flow cytometry, and cytogenetic studies, are increasing our understanding of diseases in these organs and may provide additional clinically useful data.
