ResumoIn the clinical emergency presented by acute arterial occlusion, embolization must be distinguished from thrombosis, which requires complicated and time-consuming surgical techniques. The inventor of the Fogarty balloon catheter for embolectomy explains its use in conjunction with care of the underlying cardiac disease in patients with arterial emboli.
