Resumo

Abstract. - Since the 1960's, the development of shopping centres in Paris area is connected to the changes in consuming practices. Today, the shopping centres are included in the extending net of selling points proposed to very mobile and volatile consumers and according to their social and cultural differences, the shopping centre is just a place to buy stuff or it can be a place to experience a new urban life. However, shopping centres induce new habits and new retailing processes and so generate new urban practices and values.
