This paper presents some results of a research absout the history of Palestra Italia now Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras. It is based on published news from the Sao Paulo's press from 1914 (its beginning) to 1942 (when its name was changed). The purpose is to understand the way followed by this club as one of the most important representatives of the Italian ethnicity who Iived in Sao Paulo in the early 1900s. In a broad sense. The paper looks for understanding part of the European immigration in Brazil that took place through 1870-1930 which was mainly located im Sao Paulo.
