We seek to identify possible regional or continental leaderships on the integration process that has occurred in Africa since the beginning of the twentieth first century.In this effort, we focus on three key aspects of leadership: partaking in peacekeeping missions, assessment of the African Union budget and attempts to integrate economically the continent.As we expected, larger countries have played a larger role in the AU's process, but the main factor behind the pursuit of integration seems to be the nation's domestic stability.
