Neste artigo, a creche e focalizada a luz da legislacao brasileira, tendo como base a CLT – Consolidacao das Leis Trabalhistas de 1943 – e a Constituicao Federal de 1988. O Programa Centro de Convivencia Infantil (CCI), institucionalizado pelo governo do Estado de Sao Paulo atraves do Decreto 18.370, de 08/01/1982, tambem e apresentado, pois o mesmo subsidiou a criacao das creches no interior das universidades publicas estaduais paulistas: USP, Unicamp e Unesp. A partir de uma breve contextualizacao acerca da trajetoria do atendimento a infância em nosso pais, destaco sua ligacao com o trabalho extradomiciliar feminino.Abstract: In this article, day care centers are focused in the light of the Brazilian Legislation, with a basis on the CLT – Consolidation of the Working Laws – of 1943 and the Federal Constitution of 1988. The Program “Centro de Convivencia Infantil” (Center for Child Relationship, or CCI) institutionalized by the State of Sao Paulo government through Decree 18.370 of 08/01/1982, is also presented, for it subsidized the creation of day care centers in facilities of public universities in the state of Sao Paulo: USP, Unicamp and Unesp. This text brings a short explanation about the history of early child education in our country, followed by reflections on its relationship with women’s extra-domiciliary work.Key words: Day care center.
