ResumoThis paper presents a reading of the sul-rio-grandense novel A prole do corvo, by Luiz Antonio de Assis Brasil. The analysis is based on the theories of traditional historical novel, theorized by György Lukács, and from the new historical novel, presented by Seymour Menton. We can notice that the Romanesque diegesis points as a chronological mark a historical event, the last year of Revolução Farroupilha, that took place in Rio Grande do Sul. This study aims to show how the narrative, even with historical novel characteristics, can be considered different from the otherworks of this gender, by presenting a strong intimate bias.
