ResumoPresentation of CaseA thirty-one-year-old mother of two children was admitted to the hospital because of dyspnea and cyanosis.Five days before entry a rash developed over the trunk, associated with symptoms of an upper respiratory infection, and during the next day the rash covered the entire body and face in successive stages. She had moderately severe low-back pain, which was aggravated by walking and voiding and partially relieved by bed rest. Two days before entry there was the onset of a severe cough that was productive of pink, frothy sputum and associated with deep chest pain; tetracycline was given. . . .
