ResumoMegaureters have been classified as refluxing, obstructed, nonrefluxing-nonobstructed, and refluxing-obstructed. The recommendations for the management of each type are fairly well agreed on. Where controversy has arisen is in the differentiation of the types, especially the primary obstructed from the nonrefluxing-nonobstructed. Distinguishing dilatations that represent significant obstruction from those that apparently are anatomic variants having no detrimental implications for renal function is no simple task, especially in the neonatal infant.
