Strong and uniform PSAP staining was observed in the glandular epithelium of normal and hyperplastic prostates. In adenocarcinoma of the prostate, a correlation of the PSAP staining with the degree of differentiation and the ability of the tumor to form a gland was observed: more intense and uniform staining in well differentiated tumors and less intense and more variable stains in poorly differentiated tumors. The same correlation was also observed in tumors metastasized to lymph nodes and other organs. © 1982 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited BySakai H, Yogi Y, Minami Y, Yushita Y, Kanetake H and Saito Y (2018) Prostate Specific Antigen and Prostatic Acid Phosphatase Immunoreactivity as Prognostic Indicators of Advanced Prostatic CarcinomaJournal of Urology, VOL. 149, NO. 5 Part 1, (1020-1023), Online publication date: 1-May-1993.Crawford E (2018) Editorial CommentJournal of Urology, VOL. 149, NO. 5 Part 1, (1023-1023), Online publication date: 1-May-1993.Stege R, Lundh B, Tribukait B, Pousette Å, Carlström K and Hasenson M (2018) Deoxyribonucleic Acid Ploidy and the Direct Assay of Prostatic Acid Phosphatase and Prostate Specific Antigen in Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsies as Diagnostic Methods in Prostatic CarcinomaJournal of Urology, VOL. 144, NO. 2 Part 1, (299-302), Online publication date: 1-Aug-1990.Mansi J, Berger U, Wilson P, Shearer R and Coombes R (2018) Detection of Tumor Cells in Bone Marrow of Patients with Prostatic Carcinoma by Immunocytochemical TechniquesJournal of Urology, VOL. 139, NO. 3, (545-548), Online publication date: 1-Mar-1988.Heller J (2018) Prostatic Acid Phosphatase: Its Current Clinical StatusJournal of Urology, VOL. 137, NO. 6, (1091-1103), Online publication date: 1-Jun-1987.Mori K and Wakasugi C (2018) Immunocytochemical Demonstration of Prostatic Acid Phosphatase: Different Secretion Kinetics Between Normal, Hyperplastic and Neoplastic ProstatesJournal of Urology, VOL. 133, NO. 5, (877-883), Online publication date: 1-May-1985.Vihko P, Kontturi M, Lukkarinen O and Vihko R (2018) Immunoreactive Prostatic Acid Phosphatase Inprostatic Cancer: Diagnosis and Followup of PatientsJournal of Urology, VOL. 133, NO. 6, (979-982), Online publication date: 1-Jun-1985.Pontes J (2018) Biological Markers in Prostate CancerJournal of Urology, VOL. 130, NO. 6, (1037-1047), Online publication date: 1-Dec-1983.Allhoff E, Proppe K, Chapman C, Lin C and Prout G (2018) Evaluation of Prostate Specific Acid Phosphatase and Prostate Specific Antigen in Identification of Prostatic CancerJournal of Urology, VOL. 129, NO. 2, (315-318), Online publication date: 1-Feb-1983.Mostofi F (2018) Editorial CommentsJournal of Urology, VOL. 129, NO. 2, (318-318), Online publication date: 1-Feb-1983.Pontes J (2018) Editorial CommentsJournal of Urology, VOL. 129, NO. 2, (318-318), Online publication date: 1-Feb-1983.
