ResumoAdministration of choline (Ch) or lecithin (phosphatidylcholine), the biosynthetic precursors of acetylcholine (ACh) may increase functional cholinergic neurotransmission (1,14,15). Ch has been reported to increase plasma levels of Ch and brain levels of ACh (1, 14,15) and to be of some benefit in the treatment of tardive dyskinesia (7,11,12). Lecithin is similar but may be superior insofar as it does not cause one of the major side effects of Ch treatment, namely, an offensive "fishy" odor.
