ResumoMost members with heteromorphic coiling.Lateral lobe generally trifid, but bifid L developing independently in several stocks.Late Jurassic cyrtocones (Protancyloceras) apparently gave rise both to straight forms (Bochianites) and, later, to more closely coiled forms (Leptoceras and Crioceratitinae). These produced both involute forms that led to Douvilleicerataceae and Deshayesitaceae Cephalopoda-Cretaceous Ammonoidea
