ResumoIn this essay I examine representations and subversions of power in Travis Brisini’s “The Conference Room Carpet” and Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s short story “The Yellow Wallpaper.” I argue Brisini’s “The Conference Room Carpet” is a successful performative attempt to write his way out of the oppressive conventions of academic success.
