ResumoThis commentary is a rebuttal of Peter Y. Bullock's "A Reappraisal of Anasazi Cannibalism." In that article he proposes that the evidence from several Anasazi sites, that have been interpreted as cannibalism, can be better explained by warfare and its associated aspects. We show that his argument is lacking in an understanding of taphonomy, explanatory logic, and proper use of analogy and cross-cultural comparisons. In addition to errors of omission, he ignores the totality of the evidence for hypothesizing Anasazi cannibalism.
