ResumoMasdar Institute established a new solar platform dedicated to research and development of concentrated solar power (CSP), and thermal energy storage systems. The facility includes among others, state of the art solar resource assessment apparatuses, a 100 kW beam down CSP plant that has been adapted to research activity, one independent 100 kW hot-oil loop, and new thermal energy storage systems. The objective of this platform is to develop cost efficient CSP solutions, promote and test these technologies in extreme desert conditions, and finally develop local expertise. The purpose of this paper is not to present experimental results, but more to give a general overview of the different capabilities of the Masdar Institute Solar Platform.
