ResumoThirty-one specific and infra-specific taxa of the genus Phacus Duj. and one of the genus Hyalophacus (Pring.) Pochm. were identified as a result of the study of the samples obtained from 26 water sites at Jacui Delta State Park, located between parallels 29o56’, 30o03’ S and 51o12’, 51o18’ W of Rio Grande do Sul. The samples were collected in April and December 1993, January 1994, and from May 1998 to December 1999. Phacus longicauda (Ehr.) Duj., P. longicauda (Ehr.) Duj. var. tortus Lemm. and P. curvicauda Swir., were the most frequent taxa in the area. Ten taxa are cosmopolitan, Phacus raciborskii Drez. var. longus Conf. and P. rodriguesiae Conf. are taxa that occur exclusively in South America, whereas the others have restricted distribution. Descriptions, illustrations, comments, geographical distribution and the width of environmental conditions in which each taxon was found are presented.
