ResumoThis CHRONICLE is part of an investigation that focuses on the role that museums play in helping members of a given community to assimilate historically traumatic processes. It studies the unique case of the Museo Móvil (MM, Mobile Museum), a museographic tool that emerged as a response to the complicated relationship between the residents of Federación (Entre Ríos, Argentina) and their social and demographic history in the wake of a traumatic event: the abrupt relocation of the city at the end of the 1970s. This process impacted the physical environment in sensitive ways, both affecting the place’s subjectivities and marking the Federación resident’s memories and ways of seeing with a sadness, which expressed in a resistance towards revisiting their past. In this context, the Museo de los Asentamientos, (MA, Settlement Museum) designed a mobile museographic artifact that aimed to collect memories: a metaphor for urban displacement, which also relocated the museum archives that had been used up until then. Henceforth, this paper explores the development of the Museo Móvil and its contributions, including the manner in which this dispositive opened towards a new configuration of a common past that had previously been blocked out.
