Resumo

What ruins lay at the top of Mt. Berenice, high above Old Tiberias: Not the fabled palace of the first-century Queen, of course! Instead, a large, sixth-century Byzantine church. In the inner sanctuary of the church itself, a mysterious cult stone in reuse from the Early Bronze Age! Destroyed by an earthquake in 749 CE, the church was rebuilt during the early Islamic period: The first church of the Abbasid period ever found in Israel.
