Este artigo procura desenvolver o conceito e a função da memória na teoria psicanalítica, partindo da definição freudiana de sintoma histérico. Aborda inicialmente duas concepções de memória anteriores ao advento da psicanálise: a teoria da reminiscência de Platão e o conceito de repetição em Kierkegaard. Em seguida, discorre sobre relação da memória com o inconsciente, recorrendo a textos de Freud e de Lacan. Na parte final, a narrativa de um fragmento clínico permite demonstrar o retorno da memória do trauma na linguagem do sonho.PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Lembrança. Inconsciente. Memória. Repetição. Gozo. ABSTRACTThis paper intends to study the concept and the activity of memory in Freud’s theory, starting by Freud’s definition of the hysteric symptom. It explains initially two conceptions of memory formulated before psychoanalysis approach: the theory of reminiscence purposed by Plato and Kierkegaard’ s concept of repetition. Then it explains the connection between memory and unconscious, recalling some texts of Freud and of Lacan. In the end, the narrative of a small piece of a clinical study make possible the demonstration of the return of the memory of the trauma in dream’s language.KEYWORDS: Remembrance. Unconscious.
